10.8.25 - be hungry for god

Good morning ,

Earlier this year, I joined a small group at church to learn about fasting. Before I fasted, I wrote a list of what I was hoping to see God do. I was hoping for God to answer all my prayers and perhaps even pour out a financial blessing. 

LOL. Was I in for a surprise?

Things started falling apart even more so after I started the fast. I couldn’t believe it. I was fasting. Didn’t God see my sacrifice? Didn’t he want to help me? 

He sure did, but it wasn’t in the way I had hoped. 

Through fasting, I realized how much control I needed to surrender. I realized how much I needed God to intervene. I couldn’t be the fixer anymore. I needed to let God take over and trust in Him. I needed to trust His way and His timing. I gained clarity through fasting. I am no longer confused because I do trust the Lord. I gained a renewed hope in the Lord. I saw the power of God in big and small ways. 

Fasting also taught me to dedicate more time to prayer. I was studying His word, but my prayer life was struggling. Struggling big time. I began to pray with expectation. I prayed some bold prayers. Some have been answered, and some have not. I continue to seek God. 

I am so grateful for this year and my small group. Last year was one of the hardest years of my life. This year started with me at such a low point, but God strengthened me and gave me peace. He has given me joy and taught me grace. This year has brought healing. There is still much healing to do, but God is able. I give all praise to God who had mercy on me. I pray my life continues to honor Him and encourage others to place it all in His hands. Surrender it all to Him and trust that He is faithful.
