9.3.25 - a new schedule
Hi ,
Over the summer I sort of got out of the routine of waking up really early. I would get out of bed around 7:30-8AM most days. I knew that would come to an end once school started back. I told my husband last night that I needed to start getting out of bed at 6AM, so I could have more time in the morning. I thought I was ready to get back on a school schedule.
I set my alarm for 6AM this morning, and turned that thing off as soon as I heard it. I didn’t get out of bed until 8:05.
I know waking up earlier is helpful to me. I don’t feel rushed in the morning. I get quiet time with the Lord. I can get work done uninterrupted. But I just couldn’t do it today. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Why do we do that? We know something is good for us, but we delay doing it? What I’m learning - I can be my own problem. I overbooked myself and then feel rushed which leads to feeling irritated. I write my to do list for the day but wake up 2 hours later than planned which leads to rushing to make up for lost time. I plan to clean the house, but then I look at my phone for 30 minutes, when I could have done the dishes and started laundry. Then I’m irritated because I just wasted 30 minutes.
It’s this cycle knowing vs doing. We know, but we make excuses for why we can’t, but we can. It may be hard. It may be the last thing we want to do with everything else going on. It may be something that forces us to recognize how much healing we actually need. Nevertheless, most of the things we need to do to make our life better or easier, we can do it, or at least start the process.
Tomorrow, I’m waking up at 6AM. Maybe your thing isn’t waking up earlier. Maybe it’s eating better, or exercising, or starting to read your bible every day. I encourage you if you can’t start today, start tomorrow and commit to it. It’s the only way we will break the cycle of excuses.
I appreciate you being part of this community—it's always more than skin care. 💛
If today’s email encouraged you, feel free to forward it to a friend who might need it too.
Love,
Danielle
