9.16.25 - just take the next step

Fear holds a lot of us back, specifically the fear of the unknown. When God nudges us to do something we typically think, “well how am I supposed to do that?” And then we wait, hoping to receive a step by step of every single thing we need to do to see this thing through. 

The truth is most of us would still not move forward even if we had all the details because the fear would turn into excuses and more questions. 

The struggle of delayed disobedience has been hard for me for the past few years because of fear and excuses. Last week, September 10, God gave me 3 words: Mornings with Jesus. I simply put it as a note in my phone and prayed for the Lord to show me what it meant. 

Over the past couple of years the mornings have been my time with Jesus. The house is quiet and I can focus on spending time with the Lord. Since June 30, I’ve been spending most of my mornings with Jesus on Tik Tok live reading through the Old Testament, sharing my testimony, and encouraging others to spend time reading their bible. 

So when God gave me those 3 words it wasn’t too long before it made sense. To top it off my husband has been encouraging me to branch out to other platforms to read in the morning. That sounded good, but wouldn’t that be weird for me to try to make this a real thing? 

“God, that is weird. I’m not teaching a bible study. I’m simply just reading your Word and hoping to encourage others to do the same. This doesn’t make sense. People are going to think I’m a teacher. I don’t know if that’s even a thing. I was just trying to read through the Old Testament with some people.” 

Well within 2 days a girl popped up on my Tik Tok. Her profile said reading the Bible to the world. Wow. I guess it is a thing! I went to check out her page only to be disappointed by the motive: to collect gifts (money). I couldn’t believe people were falling for this, but then I remembered Paul’s words in Philippians 1:15-18.

15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,

It makes me sad to see people like this using God for their own agenda but I will rejoice because Christ is preached. 

In some way, this gave me the confidence to move forward with Mornings with Jesus. I pray that my heart stays pure and my focus is always to honor God. I started Mornings with Jesus on Monday and I invite you to join me Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8am EST on Tik Tok or YouTube. (The videos will be archived on Youtube instead of the Facebook Group.)

I look forward to seeing what God will do with this. I feel like I’m already working on so many different things, why would God give me something else? It dawned on me Monday night. It’s for community. So many people are alone on their Christian walk. So many people lack hope. I praise God for the women he has brought into my life, and I pray that for others. Community makes a huge difference. 

If God is asking you to do something -  just take the first step. Don’t worry about the next 10 steps after that. If you don’t know what the first step is ask him, “Lord, show me the first step to take and give me the courage to move forward.”

If you take the first step and you don’t know what’s next, go to the Lord. “Lord, I did the first step. What’s next? Show me what to do.” 

Let’s stop over-complicating things. Let’s take the first step and trust that the Lord will guide us along the way.
