6.25.25 - parenting struggles

Good morning ,

Parenting. Is. Hard.

Becoming a mom is one of the greatest things that ever happened to me. It's always one of the VERY MOST challenging things I've ever had to do.

In life, we have guides and rules for nearly everything. In parenting, there is no one size fits all guide or rulebook for raising kids. Each one is different. Each family lifestyle is different.

This week I've been volunteering at our church VBS and I've caught myself wondering, "why can't my kids listen this well?" or "why can't my kids be this sweet?"

I know I know. Don't compare your kids.

I continue to have to remind myself that our kids are good, they are healthy, and most importantly, they believe in Jesus.

It's hard though when they aren't kind - when they don't listen - when they respond with disrespectful comments. I wonder why are they doing this?!! Why are they doing this TO US?

We don't teach them this. Then I was reminded that it's sin. Sin is in all of us, including our kids.

At ages 10 and 12, things seem to be getting worse, instead of better. Pray for us. It's so hard being a parent.

You never know if you are doing the right thing, but you're always trying to do what's best. You're hopeful, but always worried that it won't be enough.

You worry how you will make it to do this another day, and then somehow God gives us the gift of the next day, for us to do it all over again. Somedays are better than others, and somedays I feel like I'm not cut out for this. Each day, I continue to pray and ask God to help me be a better mom. I hope this brings some encouragement for the parent who is struggling. You don't have all the answers. You are wondering what you could be doing better. You are wondering when your kids are going to get it. You are not alone. I'm right here with you and it's not fun. Let's remember our hope is not in our own wisdom. It's not in a parenting book or Tik Tok parenting videos. Our hope is in God's word. He is the best parent and we can trust that he will give us godly wisdom to parent the children he has blessed us with.

I appreciate you being part of this community—it's always more than skin care. 💛

If today’s email encouraged you, feel free to forward it to a friend who might need it too.

Love,
Danielle
