4.9.25 - our first full year of homeschool
Good morning ,
I can't believe we just hit our first full year of homeschooling. Here's a very short back story of how we got here to appreciate why it's such a blessing.
My daughter was struggling quite a bit in public school. She was having a lot of behavioral problems that were partially due to her seeking control and partially being singled out by the staff. I withdrew her from public school over Spring Break 2024 and we got started with an online curriculum the following week, April 8, 2024 to be exact.
I didn't know what to expect because I honestly didn't know much about homeschooling. I'm so grateful for the homeschool community and the people who have poured into me when I faced challenges or had questions.
I know I haven't always gotten it right as a mom. We do the best we can with the information and resources we have, but we aren't right all the time (just most of the time lol). I've grown so much in this last year through being a homeschool mom. I've had to learn to be a better steward of my time because of the additional responsibilities. I've had to learn patience because teaching a child long division and different types of energy was never something I thought I would have to revisit in my 30s. I've had to apologize when getting upset because she wasn't getting it as quickly as I thought she should. I've had to open up my schedule to join a co op and participate in other educational and social activities. I haven't been able to show up as much in my business, and I've seen that God can still provide without me working myself to the ground. I've found that all of this has only helped us grow, and it's a beautiful journey.
Homeschooling has helped me realize so much about me, and be much more hands on with my daughter. She recently finished 4th grade almost 2 months early and is starting on her 5th grade curriculum. The flexibility and freedom we have is something I'll continue to appreciate and share with others. When I hear other people talk about homeschooling I try to encourage them, because it can feel very overwhelming and unreachable, but it's not.
It's been a lot of fun. It's been whatever we want to make it, and I love that for us.
I don't know what's going on with you. Maybe it's homeschooling, maybe it's a new job, maybe it's a relationship that you are on the fence about or a new business venture - whatever it is - you can handle it with God. He will strengthen you when you are too broken to want to go on. He will give you wisdom when you have no idea what you are doing. He will lift you up when you feeling like falling apart. None of this would be possible without his guidance and grace.
I appreciate you being a part of my community. It's always more than skin care :)
If this email has helped you please share it with someone you know.
